The main goal of the project is addressing the challenges faced by children in street situations, particularly in terms of hard labour and exposure to risks and abuse. The project operates through two day centres for street children in Prishtina and Prizren and offers a range of services based on individual needs and assessments, the latter carried out by a multidisciplinary team in collaboration with social workers from the Centre for Social Work.
Specific objectives:
Identification and referral: Mobile teams identify and refer children in street situations to the necessary services.
Needs assessment: A multidisciplinary team assesses the needs of children and their families, taking into account areas such as physical and mental health, education and basic care.
Psychosocial services and activities: Services and activities are provided to help children and their families cope with their difficult situation and improve their social and emotional skills.
Psychological Counseling: Children and their families are offered individual and group counseling sessions, with the aim of supporting and building positive relationships.
Learning Support: Children attending school receive learning support from the center’s teacher.
Positive Parenting Sessions: The center offers sessions to help parents develop healthy relationships with their children and learn effective parenting strategies.
Medical Assistance and Other Medical Services: The center provides medical assistance, tests, check-ups, medications, and administrative support for civil registration for children and their families.
Support for Hygiene and Basic Needs: Children receive regular bathing and assistance with basic hygiene, such as cleaning and laundry. Basic clothing is provided, assistance with dressing, and reimbursement for medications is provided.
Nutritional Support: Families are provided with food packages.
Provision of Didactic Material: Children are provided with learning and educational materials.
