Empowering Vulnerable Communities through Education: Promoting Academic Success among Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian, and Other Vulnerable Children

Its main goal is to improve educational outcomes and increase school participation among students from marginalized communities, including Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians. This is achieved through the provision of learning support such as supplementary teaching in learning centers and support for Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian and other students in need. The prject is implemented in municipalities of Ferizaj, Mitrovica, Prizren, Pejë, Gjakovë, Prishtinë and Klinë.

Specific objectives:

  • Increasing the level of academic achievement and attendance of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian students and other vulnerable groups in regular education in the education system;

  • Building the capacities of teaching center staff in providing quality learning support to children who attend it;

  • Educational support based on the identification of learning needs and support in integration into regular education and achieving satisfactory results;

  • Raising awareness of the importance of inclusion, attendance and registration in the education system and schooling;

  • Presentation and application of child protection and welfare policies in school institutions;

  • Improving cooperation between teaching centers, schools and municipal education directorates

Duration: 10 months

Target group: Children age 7 to 11

  • Municipalities of Peja, Gjakova, Ferizaj, Mitrovica, Prizren, Klina, and Prishtina

  • Municipal Directorates of Education in the above-mentioned municipalities

  • Social Work Centers in the municipalities of Peja, Gjakova, Ferizaj, Mitrovica, Prizren, Klina, and Prishtina

  • Schools where the learning centers are based (see table above)
